AutoBMD

Bone mineral density (BMD) measurements from existing CT scans by averaging Hounsfield units in the trabecular region of vertebral bones.

Overview

43.1% of adults over the age of 50 have low bone mass (osteopenia)¹, a precursor for osteoporosis and fracture.

HeartLung.AI’s Automated Bone Mineral Density Software Module (AutoBMD™) is a post-processing AI-powered software intended to measure bone mineral density (BMD) from existing CT scans by averaging Hounsfield units in the trabecular region of vertebral bones.

HeartLung-1

Features

  • Reports Z-score and T-score similar to DEXA scans and detects osteopenia and osteoporosis.
  • Enables retrospective assessment of bone density from CT scans acquired for other purposes; assessment of bone density in conjunction with another medically appropriate procedure involving CT scans; and assessment of bone density without a phantom as an independent measurement procedure.

AutoBMD can be run on:

  • Coronary Artery Calcium Scans
  • Lung Cancer Screening Scans
  • Thoracic and Abdominal Scans done for any clinical workup (trauma, infections, caner, surgery planning, etc)

Benefits

  • Applicable for reimbursable CPT code 77078.
  • Potential to increase revenue for imaging centers.
  • Provides DEXA-equivalent bone density report.
  • No extra radiation or scanner costs as AutoBMD takes advantage of existing CT scans.
