cmAngio

Detection and localization of Breast Arterial Calcifications (BAC) to help identify patients who may need further evaluation and support their overall health.

Present Bilateral Example

Overview

cmAngio is the first-of-its-kind¹, FDA-cleared, proprietary, artificial intelligence (AI) based software intended to detect at the study and breast level, the presence or absence of Breast Arterial Calcifications (BAC), an incidental finding in both Full Field Digital Mammogram (FFDM) and Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) screening mammograms for independent interpretation of the qualified interpreting physician. The device also marks BAC segments on thumbnails of the screening mammogram images for localization of BAC. cmAngio allows interpreting physicians to use existing screening mammograms to identify women who have BAC and refer them for additional evaluation for calcifications as appropriate.

Breast Arterial Calcifications (BAC) are a type of vascular, medial calcification that is regularly observed on screening mammography due to the deposition of calcium within the arteries of the breast. BAC are observed in mammography as linear or branching calcifications of varying attenuation and length along the walls of the arteries. There is growing evidence that it is associated with the aging process and may be an early indicator of certain clinical outcomes.

Features

  • Adjustable operating point to meet clinical goals.
  • Processes both FFDM and DBT exams.
  • Cybersecure and HIPAA-compliant.
  • Compatible with any DICOM-compliant viewer.
  • Demonstrated performance across age, breast density and geography.
  • Provides visualization of BAC location on the cmAngio scorecard for a quick view of what the algorithm has identified.
  • The outputs of cmAngio include:
    • Study Level indication of BAC (“Present” or “Absent”)
    • Breast Laterality Level indication of BAC (“Present Bilateral”)
    • Location of the detected BAC segments with contours on the thumbnails of input images (DICOM SC)

Benefits

  • The cmAngio Scorecard provides an indication of BAC, including thumbnails with contours highlighting the BAC regions, allowing for quick visualization of what the algorithm has identified.
  • Enables BAC identification and reporting without additional radiation for the patient or procedures by the radiologist.
  • Helps identify women who have BAC and might otherwise have gone undiagnosed until other more serious symptoms became apparent.
  • Helps radiologists to incorporate relevant information into their overall patient assessment and
    recommendations for follow-up.
  • Can be used on any mammogram, whether current or prior, to support healthcare decision-making.
