Knee osteoarthritis labeling assistant software.

IBLabxBlackford-768x474

Overview

Knee osteoarthritis is a common disease of the knee that can become paralyzing and lead to joint replacement. IB Lab’s first FDA cleared module, KOALA supports physicians in detecting signs of knee osteoarthritis (OA). It measures minimum joint space width, imaging biomarkers for OA based on OARSI criteria and provides Kellgren & Lawrence status/grade of standing fixed flexion radiographs of the knee.

Koala-150x150

Features

Radiological findings, measurements, and results including:

  • Kellgren & Lawrence grade
  • Minimum joint space width
  • Joint space narrowing
  • Sclerosis
  • Osteophytosis

Benefits

  • Aims to enable quick, verifiable decision making in difficult cases.
  • Expected to facilitates monitoring of knee osteoarthritis progression.
  • Aims to reduce the risk of inter-rater variability for evaluating knee radiographs in a standardized manner.
  • Reliable measurements and accurate indicators: separates KL score (>=2) with 87% sensitivity and 83% specificity.¹
  • Helps standardize workflows with reproducible measurements and automated reporting templates.
  • A study showed² that KOALA improved agreement rates between readers by:
    • 21% for KL grade
    • 47% for sclerosis OARSI grade
    • 33% for osteophyte OARSI grade
    • 39% for OA diagnosis.
